Labor Day weekend usually marks the start of apple picking season for many orchards in Oak Glen and it runs until around Thanksgiving.

Los Rios Rancho

Los Rios Rancho is the largest and most well-known orchard in Oak Glen, offering over 300 acres of apples, pumpkins, and berries.

In addition to apple picking, you can enjoy hayrides, fair activities, or explore the scenic nature trails. The farm also has a country store where you can purchase homemade jams, jellies, baked goods (the apple pie is a family favorite in my house), and numerous other goodies.

 

Tips for Visiting Los Rios Rancho:

  • If you are a BBQ person, consider grabbing lunch at their outdoor Farm Kitchen & BBQ. The Apple Cider marinated Pulled Pork Sandwich is delish! 

  • Los Rios Rancho is usually packed on the weekends during apple season. If you want to avoid crowds, try to go on the weekdays.

Snow-Line Orchard

If you’re a fan of hard cider and donuts, Snow-Line Orchard is the place to be. This place goes back all the way to 1898!

They are known for fresh-pressed cider, apple pie, and the famous mini-cider donuts. 

I am telling you right now, you better try those donuts. They will change your life.

Besides apple picking and life-changing donuts, Snow-Line also offers wine and cider tastings, making it a great spot for a more adult-oriented day out.

Stone Soup Farm is a charming, lesser-known gem in Oak Glen. This heritage orchard specializes in heirloom apple varieties, making it a must-visit for those interested in unique flavors.

Another family-owned practice, focusing on organic and sustainable farming practices, visitors are encouraged to learn about the history and cultivation of these special apples.

  • Try to book far well in advance, there is no guarantee that there will be a spot open the morning you decide to go.
